The Writing Center can support your teaching in a number of ways. First, writing assistants can offer support for specific students you refer to the Center. For those students, writing assistants can provide feedback both about writing projects for your class as well as helping them develop writing skills for future success.
Second, you can choose to link your class to the Writing Center by having your students make at least one appointment during the term. In many ways, this is similar to doing peer review, except that your students meet with trained writing assistants. In this way, you can make sure that students are getting feedback on their writing and actively exploring possibilities for revision.
Lastly, the Writing Center can offer assistance for students who are working on longer projects with you. This includes students working on graduate theses/dissertations, honor's theses, international degree theses, McNair Scholar research projects, etc. Writing Assistants often establish long-term relationships with these students and are able to help during all phases of their writing processes.
