IWCA Summer Institute 2007

Scholarship Guidelines

The IWCA Summer Institute is committed to recruiting and supporting writing center professionals who need financial assistance and to fostering diversity in the writing center community, both within and beyond the United States.

The Institute anticipates being able to offer 2-4 scholarships to help defray costs of attending.

Applications are due as an email attachment to Lisa Ede and Clyde Moneyhun (lisa.ede@oregonstate.edu and moneyhun@stanford.edu) by May 1, 2007.

Attach your CV or resume and a letter that addresses the following questions:
  • What is your experience with writing centers? Describe your career trajectory as it relates to writing center work.
  • Why do you want to attend the Summer Institute? What goals do have for this experience?
  • How might your participation in the Summer institute contribute to your institution and/or the professional writing center community following the Institute?
  • In what ways do you meet one or both of the criteria cited above (financial assistance and diversity)?

A small team will review applications after May 1, 2007. Recipients can expect to have the Institute fee of $600 covered, but should expect to pay for travel and hotel themselves. (The number of scholarships awarded and the amounts of scholarships will be determined by the number of qualified recipients and the funds available when awards are made.)
